We are often told not to
judge a book by its cover or not to rely on first impression, yet we do this
most of the time. Speed dating is an activity that flies in the face of such
sage old advice. But perhaps the advice although old, may not be sage after
all. We have evolved from cultures where a rapid and correct assessment of
intention and trustworthiness was a survival advantage. Perhaps the evolution
